چکیده
We propose a decision procedure for a general class of normed commutative process rewrite systems and their induced bisimulation equivalences. Our technique is inspired by the polynomial-time algorithm for strong bisimilarity on normed Basic Parallel Processes (BPP), developed by Hirshfeld, Jerrum and Moller. As part of our framework we present a generic unique decomposition result, which we obtain by building on a characterization by Luttik and van Oostrom. We apply our general technique to derive polynomialtime algorithms for strong bisimilarity on normed BPP with communication and for distributed bisimilarity on all BPP with communication. Moreover, our technique yields a PSPACE upper bound for weak and branching bisimilarity on totally normed BPP.

متن کاملOn the Complexity of Deciding Behavioural Equivalences and Preorders A Survey
This paper gives an overview of the computational complexity of all the equivalences in the linear/branching time hierarchy [vG90a] and the preorders in the corresponding hierarchy of preorders. We consider finite state or regular processes as well as infinite-state BPA [BK84b] processes. A distinction, which turns out to be important in the finite-state processes, is that of simulation-like eq...

We give an overview of the computational complexity of all the equivalences in van Glabbeek's linear/branching time hierarchy and the preorders in the corresponding hierarchy of preorders. We consider nite state or regular processes as well as innnite-state BPA and BPP processes. A distinction, which turns out to be important in the nite-state processes, is that of simulation-like equivalences/...
متن کاملComputational Complexity of Some Equivalence-Checking Problems
This habilitation thesis gives an overview of five papers of the author in the area of verification, in particular, in the study of computational complexity of equivalence checking problems and related areas. The first of these papers, Sawa, Jančar: Equivalences on Finite-State Systems are PTIME-hard (2005), shows that deciding any relation between bisimulation equivalence (bisimilarity) and tr...
متن کاملOn Unique Decomposition of Processes in the Applied π-Calculus
Unique decomposition has been a subject of interest in process algebra for a long time (for example in BPP [2] or CCS [10, 12]), as it provides a normal form with useful cancellation properties. We provide two parallel decomposition results for subsets of the Applied π-Calculus: We show that a closed finite process P can be decomposed uniquely into prime factors Pi with respect to weak labeled ...
